LedgerSense™ for Legal Firms — Forensic Analysis Inside Claude

★ Only forensic-accounting plugin in the Claude for Legal directory

Forensic financial analysis,
inside your Claude.

Drop a bank statement into Claude. Get a court-ready schedule back. LedgerSense installs as a plugin into your firm’s existing Claude — no separate web app, no new portal to learn, no IT project. The same Claude your solicitors already use, with a specialist forensic accountant added to it.

No Claude subscription required to start the pilot conversation. We’ll guide you through it.

Launch offer Three months of LedgerSense free for firms taking a Claude Team subscription via our onboarding — apply on the pilot form before 31 July 2026.

How it works

Three steps. No new software to install on every laptop.

LedgerSense lives inside Claude — the AI assistant Anthropic launched for legal work on 12 May 2026 alongside Thomson Reuters, DocuSign, iManage, Harvey, and the rest. Your firm installs LedgerSense once. Every solicitor at the firm gets it.

Install the plugin into your Claude

One-click install from this page or the Anthropic Directory. Authorise once with your firm’s email; we mint your firm a private tenant on our secure servers. Setup completes in under two minutes.

Drop in the source documents

Bank statements (CSV), sales ledgers, statutory accounts, payroll summaries. Claude reads them inline, applies the SmartScanit forensic taxonomy, and flags anything worth a closer look in plain English.

Form E disclosure, schedule of loss, Statement of Affairs, director’s loan reconstruction — produced as a signed PDF with a hash-chained audit trail, ready to file or attach to a witness statement.

Why this is built on Claude

The technical reason no automation tool can do this work.

A typical UK business bank statement runs to 12,000–20,000 transaction rows a year. Pure-automation platforms — Make.com, Zapier, Power Automate — cap out at a few thousand operations per scenario run, hit memory limits, and time out on the parse. They simply can’t read a year of statements in one go, let alone reason across them.

Claude can. Its 200,000-token context window — about 150,000 words of working memory — comfortably holds an entire year of a contracting business’s transactions and reasons about them in a single pass. LedgerSense isn’t just delivered through Claude; it’s only technically possible because of Claude.

Make.com scenario cap ~1,000 ops
Zapier task run ~750 ops
Power Automate flow ~2,000 ops
Claude (Sonnet) context 200,000 tokens
…enough for a full year of bank statements in one pass.

108 transactions. 5 seconds. The pattern a human would miss.

In our most recent test, the agent read a 15-day ANNA Money business account statement (108 transactions) and surfaced — within five seconds — a three-way mirror pattern: three counterparties receiving identical amounts on the same four dates, totalling £8,750 routed via the director’s loan account. In a divorce, tax investigation or HMRC enquiry this is the single most consequential finding in the file.

The kind of schedule your firm would file.

Below is an anonymised demonstration schedule — the exact format and depth of analysis the LedgerSense agent produces for a director’s loan reconstruction. Download it, read through, share with a partner or your forensic team. Everything you see is generated automatically from the underlying bank statement; nothing is hand-drafted.

Eight pages. Court-grade. Yours to keep.

A fictional director, a real-world pattern. The schedule walks through a full financial year of a UK contracting business’s ANNA Money account, reconstructs the director’s loan balance day by day, and surfaces the three-way mirror finding any HMRC enquiry would zero in on.

  • Day-by-day DLA balance schedule with every drawing and offset
  • Cross-reference table mapping every line to its source row
  • Four severity-rated findings — including the £8,750 mirror pattern
  • Method note, evidential footer with simulated hashes
  • The three mandatory practitioner caveats every schedule carries

Compliance & evidential weight

Built for evidence, not just answers.

Forensic work that may be tested in court has to clear a higher bar than ordinary accounting output. LedgerSense is built against that bar from the ground up.

Tamper-evident audit trail

Every state-changing action is hashed into a SHA-256 chain. Each entry includes the hash of the previous entry. Any single entry being altered breaks the chain irrecoverably.

Tenant isolation

Every firm gets a private slice of our matter store. Firm A can never see Firm B’s data; we never accidentally mix them up. Enforced at the deepest level, on every request.

Source traceability

Every figure on every schedule carries a cross-reference back to its source document and transaction row. No figure exists that cannot be traced.

Reproducibility

Given the same inputs and engine version, every schedule regenerates bit-identical at any future date. Independent reviewer certification targeted for v1.0.

UK compliance roadmap

Cyber Essentials certification is in progress (target Q3 2026). G-Cloud listing and ISO 27001 are on the roadmap for years one and two. NHS DSPT for healthcare-adjacent legal work to follow.

Witness statement fit

Every schedule PDF carries an evidential footer — engine version, schedule hash, audit chain head, production timestamp — suitable for inclusion as an exhibit.

Frequently asked

Questions firms usually ask first.

If yours isn’t here, drop a note in the form above and we’ll cover it on the onboarding call.

Does my firm need a Claude subscription before we can use LedgerSense?

Yes — LedgerSense is a plugin for Claude, so your firm needs a Claude subscription (any tier — Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise works). If you’re not on Claude yet, we’ll guide you through which tier suits your firm size on the onboarding call. Claude Team is typically right for firms of 5–150 lawyers.

Who do we pay — Anthropic or SmartScanit?

Both, separately. Two completely independent billing relationships:

Your Claude subscription is paid directly to Anthropic via claude.ai (or via your existing procurement route if you’re already on Claude Team or Enterprise). They invoice you for the seats your solicitors use.

Your LedgerSense subscription is paid to SmartScanit Group Ltd via our Stripe account (or invoice for the Enterprise tier). We charge the firm-wide subscription plus per-schedule fee. Anthropic takes no cut of what you pay us — the same way Slack doesn’t take a cut when you pay Asana for the Asana-in-Slack integration.

One practical upside: the LedgerSense bill is a separate, predictable line on your supplier ledger. Easy for the practice manager to categorise; easy for the partners to review.

What happens to client data — is anything ever shared with Anthropic for training?

No. LedgerSense runs against Anthropic’s commercial Claude products, where data is not used for model training by default. Your firm’s matters, parsed statements, and produced schedules all live on our tenant-isolated infrastructure — never shared with other firms, never used as training data, never stored beyond the retention period you specify in your engagement letter.

For firms with stricter requirements, our enterprise tier includes a Zero Data Retention agreement and ISO 27001-aligned storage.

Is the output actually court-ready, or just a draft?

The schedule itself is court-ready in format and content — it follows HMCTS or Insolvency Service templates exactly, carries the SHA-256 audit footer, and is reproducible bit-identical from the source documents. Verification by statement of truth remains your firm’s responsibility, as it would with any forensic accountant’s output. The schedule is fit for filing, attaching to a witness statement, or submitting as a Form E or schedule of loss; the instructing party signs it.

How is it different from Harvey or Legora?

Harvey and Legora are general-purpose legal AI products focused on research, drafting, and contract review. LedgerSense is specialist — it reads bank statements and ledgers, applies a documented forensic methodology, and produces evidence-grade schedules. We are the only forensic-accounting plugin on the Claude directory, and the only one that integrates audit-trail-grade output with translation (via our sister product LanguageSense) for bilingual matters.

Do you have references from other UK law firms?

We’re at the pilot stage — our first five firms are signing up over the next four weeks. If you’re one of the first five, you become a named case study at general launch (with your consent), with a 50% discount for the first year after the pilot. After the pilot cohort, named references are available on request from the firms involved.

What if we want to integrate LedgerSense with iManage, NetDocuments or Everlaw?

Native pairings are on the roadmap (v0.4.0, approximately four months out). The plugin model means the integrations come down the wire — there’s nothing for your firm to install or upgrade. iManage and NetDocuments will pull source documents in and write schedules back as versioned exhibits; Box and Datasite are wired for VDR-based buy-side DD; Everlaw and Relativity for e-discovery contexts. Tell us which you use on the call and we’ll prioritise.

Can we cancel?

Yes — monthly subscriptions can be cancelled at any time with 30 days’ notice. Annual prepay subscriptions are non-refundable on the unused portion but include a 2-month discount. The pilot tier carries no commitment — you can walk away at any point during the three free months.
